My name is Erin Engel, and my husband, Darrell, and I have proudly raised our two children in the Kutztown Area School District, which has been our home for more than 20 years. Our oldest graduated from KASD in May 2024, and our youngest is currently a junior, set to graduate in 2026. Like so many of you, I care deeply about the quality of education, fiscal responsibility, and preserving the values that make our community strong.

Over the past two years, it’s been an honor to serve as Vice President of the Board of School Directors. I’ve worked closely with the administration and my fellow Board members to ensure that our district puts students first, while being good stewards of taxpayer dollars.

In December 2023, I supported the repeal of the district’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policy. Had that policy been implemented by the Administration, it would have prioritized resources based on race and compelled students and staff to affirm gender ideologies—even when that might conflict with their personal beliefs and First Amendment rights.

As your representative for Maxatawny and Lyons, I’ve consistently voted for smart, cost-effective decisions that benefit all students. For example, I voted to end an expensive counseling contract that only served middle schoolers. Instead, we secured a State grant to hire a full-time licensed social worker (LSW) who now provides support for all students, grades K to 12. This change not only saved money—it expanded services and strengthened our support system district-wide.

I am running for re-election to continue standing up for our students, our values, and our community. I respectfully ask for your vote.
